Over the past three months, we’ve seen the student strike evolve into a larger social revolt. It’s clear that this is no longer simply about tuition fees. Now, the Grand Prix is coming to town, and the rich people who’ll benefit from this spectacle are having a gala just one neighbourhood over, in Little Burgundy. This comes in the midst of the intensifying gentrification of Saint-Henri, the government implementing an austerity budget, and the police receiving more leeway to do whatever they want to us.
