Proposal for a strike during the week of action for Palestine

You are a student? You want more free time to get involve in support of Palestine? You can propose a strike for October 6th and 7th to your student union!

Considering that we are witnessing an unprecedented acceleration of the genocide against the Palestinian people, which began in 1948 by Zionist forces;

Considering that the various forms of resistance of the Palestinian people, who have been fighting since 1948 against the colonization and occupation of their lands by the genocidal “Israeli” forces, are all legitimate;

Considering that the colonial “Israeli” oppression of Palestinians is financially, politically, and socially facilitated by the colonial powers of the territory we inhabit, who themselves have also been carrying out a colonial genocide for centuries against the Indigenous peoples of Turtle Island;

Considering that the Palestinian people are enduring a genocide documented in real time: famine affecting the entirety of Palestinians is used as a weapon of war, all forms of humanitarian aid are banned or under attack, most of the essential infrastructures for daily life have been destroyed, and bombings continue in the Gaza Strip;

Considering that “Israel” seeks to impose its Zionist propaganda internationally by attacking freedom of the press: 1) by carrying out targeted assassinations of journalists in Gaza, killing more than 260 journalists to date, 2) by blocking international media from entering Gaza, 3) by expelling major credible international outlets such as Al Jazeera from the West Bank;

Considering that, on July 23, 2025, the Zionist entity approved the colonization of the West Bank and that on August 21, 2025, Benjamin Netanyahu announced a formal attack plan for a full occupation of Gaza with the aim of once again dispossessing Palestinians of their land and burying any possibility of creating a Palestinian state;

Considering that the Government of “Canada” still refuses to impose sanctions against “Israel,” to sever all economic, diplomatic, and political ties, including ending the “Canada-Israel” free trade agreement, and to apply a total embargo on military equipment for “Israel,” and that a report by the Palestinian Youth Movement, Independent Jewish Voices, and World Beyond War shows that shipments of military equipment to the Zionist occupation forces have continued for months despite supposed political commitments to halt all arms exports;

Considering that the CAQ government still refuses to condemn the ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people, to break its economic, political, and diplomatic ties with “Israel”—notably by ending the bilateral cooperation, by closing the “Quebec Office in Tel Aviv”, and by pressuring the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec to divest from companies involved in genocide, occupation, colonization, and human rights violations in Palestine, as documented in a report by the campaign “Sortons la Caisse des crimes en Palestine” led by the Coalition du Québec URGENCE Palestine;

Considering that, on July 20, 2025, six political groups and resistance organizations in Gaza launched an international call demanding escalation of our actions to increase pressure on our complicit governments and economic institutions facilitating the genocide;

Considering that police repression against activists in “Quebec” and around the world has drastically increased in the past two years, with over 100 arrests in 2024 alone and dozens of injuries during mobilizations and solidarity actions with Palestine in Tiohtià:ke / “Montreal” alone;

Considering that the student movement has always played a crucial role in social struggles in so-called Quebec, including those in solidarity with Palestine, that student mobilization persists beyond the dismantling encampments at People’s University for Palestine (McGill), Al Aqsa (UQAM), Al-Soumoud (Square Victoria) and the encampment University of Sherbrooke, as well as various mobilizations at Laval University, and that students’ bodies are among the most beaten by police repression against the solidarity movement with Palestine;

Considering that financial contributions linking “Quebec” higher education institutions to industries complicit in human rights violations and war crimes in Palestine persist despite ongoing mobilization from the student movement;

Considering that the Minister of Higher Education, Pascale Déry, due to her close ties with Zionist lobby groups such as the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA), poses a threat to academic freedom and has already demonstrated her willingness to launch “investigations” at the exclusive request of such groups to censor facts clarifying the real situation in Palestine;

Considering that student strikes free up members’ time to participate in social struggles, that October 7 will mark the second year of the acceleration of the genocide against Palestinians, and that the inhumane stances of our colonial governments and their active complicity create major opportunities for struggle;

That ___NAME OF THE ASSOCIATION___ join and endorse the call for the week of action for Palestine from October 6 to 12 and call on its members to participate in the different events that will be organized.

That ___NAME OF THE ASSOCIATION___ be on strike on October 6 and 7, 2025, as part of the week of action, to commemorate resistance in Palestine and elsewhere in the world against occupation and genocide.

That ___NAME OF THE ASSOCIATION___ participate to the best of its abilities in the organization and mobilization of events, demonstrations, or actions as part of this week.

That ___NAME OF THE ASSOCIATION___ encourage CRUES and other student associations to join the mobilization movement.

That ___NAME OF THE ASSOCIATION___ provide financial support up to ___AMOUNT$___ for the organization of events, demonstrations, and actions during the week of October 6 to 12.
