While the situation in Canada is less catastrophic than in other parts of the world, we are all feeling the weight of increasingly worrisome inflation. Prices are rising faster than wages and we are left with no real leverage to act on the situation. In the neoliberal order, the bourgeois do what they want and people suffer without saying a word. Rents, groceries and transport are an increasing burden on us, and it is a safe bet that things will not get any better.

“Why we are Anti-Capitalist”
Since the liberal election, resistance appears to be growing against the Couillard government’s austerity program. A double discourse has again been revealed; although cuts are made, cronyism and a refusal to tax big businesses, banks, and the rich, continue to run rampant. In 2015, the student movement announced a heated spring, while unions held back until autumn…The mood intensified during collective union agreements and numerous strikes ensued throughout Community organizations as well. Before the holidays, an agreement seemed to have been reached with the Front Common. Faced with the threat of outrageous cuts, the voices of the people were heard louder than usual, and many were relieved to have weathered the worst. Many have announced the continuation of the battle this winter.

Overcoming repression: Workshops and discussion on their tactics of repression and our strategies of resistance
Montreal's Anti-Capitalist Convergence (CLAC-Montréal) invites you to an afternoon of skill sharing on the theme of resistance to repression Sunday, November 30, 2014 from 12:30 to 17h on the 7th floor of the Henry F. Hall Building of Concordia University (1455 boul. De Maisonneuve West, Metro Guy- Concordia).
2014 was a year of persistence in the face of repression. The protest on March 15th was repressed in its early stages, and that of May 1st was violently attacked. In 2014, Montreal was rated the second city in the world in terms of the number of arrests on May 1st.

It's not at City Hall that P-6 will be defeated, but on the streets! We will not submit to municipal by-law P-6
Yesterday evening, April 23, Montreal City Council voted to maintain the anti-protest by-law P-6. It's not at City Hall that P-6 will be defeated, but rather on the streets with our continued defiance and disobedience.
78 community groups have already endorsed the public statement below, clearly stating that they will not negotiate demonstration routes with the police. We encourage more community organizations to do so as well.
Please share the statement below with local organizations. Send notifications of endorsing groups to: info@clac-montreal.net

Statement Against GAMMA
Statement Against Political Profiling by Montreal's "GAMMA" Squad
Montréal –September 20th 2011
[translated from the original French]
We strongly condemn the most recent repressive offensive by the Montreal police (SPVM) whose aim is to criminalize, intimidate and isolate several political organizations. We also condemn the formation of a political police squad (entitled “GAMMA”) which is a unit of the SPVM’s organized crime division.
